FiberEye, a fiber optic power meter, and FiberLight, an optical light source,
address the challenges of installing, maintaining and troubleshooting fiber
optic LANs. The devices are designed for fiber-based Ethernet, Token Ring, and
Fiber Distributed Data Interface (FDDI) networks. The Fiberlight Optical Source
has an 850 and 1300 nm output at -15 dbm.
FiberEye is designed to help assess the performance of fiber optical
transmission paths and equipment. It measures the power of light injected into
or emerging from the fiber network. The accurate and repeatable measurement of
optical power and signal loss in fiber is essential for installing, maintaining
or troubleshooting fiber optics. By measuring optical power, the meter can
verify the proper installation and operation of a variety of fiber optic
components, such as fiber hub modules, repeaters and adapter cards. By measuring
signal loss, it can help identify faulty patch cables, failing splices or bad
couplers and connectors.
FiberLight can be used in conjuction with FiberEye to provide a consistent,
calibrated light source that increases the ease of effectiveness of fiber optic
testing, according to the company. The light source incorporates two highly
efficient LEDs, each with its own external connector. One transmits at the
wavelength used in Ethernet and Token Ring networks, the other, at the
wavelength used in FDDI networks. With two built-in light sources, it can be
used to test fiber cable plants that support all three network types more
quickly than conventional light sources.
Fiber Solution Kit consists of FiberEye, a fiber optic power meter, and
FiberLight, an optical light source, address the challenges of installing,
maintaining and troubleshooting fiber optic LANs. FiberEye and FiberLight are
designed for fiber-based Ethernet, Token Ring, and Fiber Distributed Data
Interface (FDDI) networks. The kit includes Fiber Eye with ST-style connector,
FiberLight with ST-style connector.
